2010 Texas High School Chess Championships
February 20-21, 2010. Blitz on February 19th.

Reserve by 2/4/10 or rate may go up (traditionally the Adams Mark would just keep taking reservations. I am not sure what the Sheraton Dallas will do). Note that Sheraton Dallas is running low on Double/Doubles. If you get a single please reserve a roll a way bed. Note that Double/Double may become available Monday 2/1/10. Also rooms for Sunday 2/21/10 are becoming scarce.
7 round Swiss System (No Elimination).
Entry Fee is $39 by 2/11 else $69.
This tournament will use February Supplement.
Open to Texas Residents and school. Must be in 9th - 12th grades to play. Participants cannot play up. Note that 9th graders in a Junior High (usually grades 7-9) may play in the high school section, but due to a recent change they cannot play for the team of the school they would attend in the 10th grade.
Note a rule change: Schools like Texas Academy of Math Science at UNT and also The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College Mathematics and Science Academy have been defined by the Texas Chess Associations to be High Schools and may not play in the Collegiate.
Two Sections: Championship and J V. The J V section is opened to players rated U1000 in February Supplement.

Four Year Scholarship to The University of Texas at Dallas to the winner of the High School Championship Section. Winner must meet UTD entrance requirements and follow chess team rules.
Trophies to top 20 individuals; honorable mention awards to plus scores that do not win trophy and medals for who finish the tournament, Top 15 Teams.
Side Events: K-12 Blitz on Friday 2/19 at 8:00 pm, $15. K-12 Bughouse on Sat at 8:35 pm, $20 per team on site registration only.

Entries must include name, USCF ID or new/pending (include a copy of the receipt), rating, USCF expiration date & school. All incomplete registrations will be charged the late EF , additionally there will be a $5 per player surcharge on registration received without payment, these players could possibly not be paired for round 1 and not be paired until payment is received. Refunds will be given only up to 2/17 with a $10 surcharge for withdrawing, after 2/17 there will be no refunds. There will be no substitution of team members. There will be a $10 change fee for changes after 2/17. USCF membership is required. Proof of membership is required or player must join/renew their memberships. No registration/changes/or withdrawals after 2/17/10. After that date you must make changes at site (Dallas Sheraton).
