November 21 and 22, 2009.

One night deposit is required when making reservations. It is very important to stay at the host hotel if possible. It makes holding chess tournaments easier if the host hotel sells their hotel rooms.

6 Rounds Swiss System Chess Tournament (no elimination.)

Open to Texas Residents and/or Texas Schools.

USCF rated. USCF membership is required. TCA membership is also required (Tournament Membership embedded in entry fee).

14 separate tournaments, 1 per grade, kindergarten through 12th and college. See link above for high school and college sections. Players must play in their grades. Playing up to a higher or down to a lower grade level is not permitted.

Note a rule change:  Schools like Texas Academy of Math Science at UNT and also The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College Mathematics and Science Academy have been defined by the Texas Chess Associations to be High Schools and may not play in the Collegiate.

Trophies to top 10 individuals and top 5 teams in each section. (Note that some sections with heavy pre-registrations may have more awards.)

Top 3 players in the section is added for team scores. No more than two teams per grade may be entered. If entering more than one team per grade, the teams must be predefined and may be paired against each other.

Entry Fee is $37 if postmark by 11/13 else $58 afterward.

Do not mail after 11/14 as it may not be received.

Parent/Child team tourney Sat. 6:35pm. EF: $10/team. Trophy prizes.

The Texas Grade and Collegiate tournament will be run under the USCF Rules of Chess, 5th E.

Individual Tiebreaks:  Modified Median, Median, Solkoff, Sonneborn-Berger, Cumulative.

Team Tiebreaks: Total individual medium, Total Solkoff, Total Sonnenborn-Berger, Total Cumulative.

Latest version of Swiss Sys will be used. Pairings created by this program are considered legal and may stand even if a pairing is not ideal. This is especially true if pairings have been posted. Current version is at 8.54
